Packin Our Suitcase

Guess what.
Loaded Hips is going to Vegas!!!!!!!

I'll post details & photos when we're back on Monday, July 1. There's going to be lots of Elvis and Star Trek Experience to share with you all.

In the meantime, check out this hot bathing suit Lulu referred me to. I have been searching for the perfect bathing suit this year, and we've finally met:

Thanks Lulu for the tip. You too can find this and other fabulous vintage swimsuits at Retrodress

Today's my birthday. It's a super crapola day, with thunderstorms in the forecast. Sigh. We watched this to cheer ourselves up:

That would be David Bowie wearing Klaus Nomi's suit. Klaus Nomi is behind him in black. We love Klaus Nomi.

We love the Watery Graves!

We do!

We love putting on our Caracas album early in the morning when making breakfast, windows open. The packaging is really quite lovely and it came with a cd, so I can take it on the bus.

Thank you Curtis et al for bringing this beautiful music in the world. (Yeah, I know, the album is like 2 years old. It's new to me.) You can buy it from the nice folks at Marriage Records.

Accentuate the Positive!

Just putting this out there now, gentle bloggers:

This blog is only for good, and not evil. Meaning I won't use it as my ranting soapbox. Promise.

Guess what. I'm getting married. It's going to be really stinkin' hot, but here's going to be fried chicken and lavender ice cream, and I'm going to wear this dress:

here's the dress

Some words we didn't like at work today:

"nummy"
"later"
"Serdar"

something I overheard, and did like:

"Was someone just making puppy noises?"

We've joined the blogosphere

Golly, my first blog.

Pressure!

So...um background. Loaded Hips was first a zine, which I sadly abandoned once I became obsessed with printmaking. It was Clutch McBastard who first called me "Loaded Hips Press" once I started making cards and so that's where that came from. Then the website, it was a place for all of my artwork. Now the blog, where the zine and the art can live like Oscar & Felix. Enough! I can't stand it anymore we have to watch this now:

Did you make it to the very end? Scary, huh? I LOVE it. Jane & Françoise giving a little advice on how to dump a guy? I think? Why in a parking garage? Why the motorcycle? Why the Shaka zulu dance? Anyone?

Here's the latest stuff I'm making, more of these ladies:
